Steve McGrath is a freelance nature photographer and digital photography teacher who teaches both adults and children. He studied through the New York Institute of Photography, and has been creating images since 1991. He first began by shooting sports photography for local high schools, then weddings, and stock agencies. Then his love of the outdoors led him to focusing more on his true love "nature photography". Steve was an active member of the Gateway Camera Club for many years, and has won many ribbons and awards at fairs and competitions through the group and on his own. He is a member of the New England Wildflower Society, the Amazing Things Arts Center, and the Danforth Museum of Art. Steve shoots both 33mm and digital using a Pentax PZ-1, a Sony DSC85, and most recently a Nikon D200 Digital SLR. Several of his images are published in school text books. His favorite places to shoot are Acadia National Park in Maine, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Bryce Canyon in Utah. |

Photographers' Statement |
||||||||||||||
We
are both Native New Englanders who love the outdoors and enjoy
all that nature has to offer, and this mutual enjoyment leads us
to
focus our photographic
energies on wildlife and landscape photography. We enjoy kayaking and hiking
and often utilize this to get closer to our subjects, or to simply
get a new prospective on them. One of our desires is to show others
the things in nature they see everyday, hopefully, in a way that
they have never seen them before. There is no greater joy for us
than to be able to explore, discover, and capture the beauty of
nature that is all around us, even right outside our doorstep,
and to share these images with others so that they, too, may experience
the many unnoticed details found in the wild. We hope that our
photography helps to give people a respect and appreciation of
nature in all of its seasons and moods, and also creates an awareness
of the need to protect all of our world's unique and delicate wonders.
